Adam Gase is still rich as f***
The Morning Huddle - Oct 20
Good morning/afternoon/whatever time you read this. This is the third edition of the Morning Huddle - we’ll be bringing you the top headlines in the fantasy football world Tuesday-Sunday. The only day off is Monday… because we expect you’ll be watching the games and won’t need our recap.
Here are the top headlines heading into Week 7. At this point, some seasons are lost, some are yet to be won, and these next few weeks can make or break your season.
Miles Sanders expected to miss 1-2 weeks
The injuries this season have been devastating, but Miles Sanders owners can take a sigh of relief after he avoided a major injury on his huge breakaway rush against the Ravens. Boston Scott should be the player to own in Sanders’ absence. His injury is discussed here.
Tennesse Titans to face discipline for hosting secret practices amid positive Covid-19 tests
Just kidding. Adam Schefter reported the NFL found insufficient evidence of communication regarding workouts outside of the team facility. The Titans are very lucky to get away without losing any draft picks or suffering a financial penalty. Also, is Mike Vrabel a genius?
Adam Gase might be an idiot, but he’s rich
“We've got a bunch of issues to sort through on offense and we're on step 2," Gase responded when asked if he'd relinquish play-calling duties for the second consecutive week. "[The play-calling] is step 10."Gase might be the worst coach in NFL history yet is still employed by the New York Jets. With Trevor Lawrence available at the number 1 overall pick, maybe keeping Gase employed isn’t such a bad move.
Carson Wentz is back
After a brutal start to the season, where he looked shell-shocked and made horrible reads, Wentz has been balling. Despite being without his top deep threat (Desean Jackson), the first round WR (Jalen Reagor) and his top target (Zach Ertz), Wentz balled out against the Ravens and Steelers in back to back weeks.
The Charger’s Defense is Legit?
And it’s time to pick them up off any waiver wires. To start the season, the Chargers went up against tough competition. But the schedule really opens up, and the return of Melvin Ingram and DT Justin Jones only helps strengthen a unit that held Patrick Mahomes in check (mostly). Over the next five weeks, the Charges take on the Jags, Broncos, Raiders, Dolphins and Jets. Pick them up where you can.
Mostert heading to the infirmary (IR)
With Tevin Coleman (knee) still on IR, the Niners are back to Jerick McKinnon, Jeff Wilson, and JaMycal Hasty in their backfield. McKinnon should be owned in all leagues, and Hasty might be worth a flier. It’s a shame one of the better running backs in the league (Mostert) can’t stay healthy. He’s still averaging 6.1 YPC for his career.
D’Andre Swift has arrived. Time for Matt Patricia to give AP 25 carries.
Swift’s 14/116/2 rushing line was good for second among all RBs in Week 6. At the top of most scouts draft boards before the draft, Swift fell to one of the worst landing spots in Matt Patricia’s running back circus. Hopefully, Matt wakes up and realizes there’s no point giving AP more touches than this talented rookie.
JuJu is off-beat
Chase Claypool is legit. Diontae Johnson led the team in targets while he was healthy. As for the “Steelers WR1”? He’s posting videos like this, while catching 2-4 targets for 6 yards…
That’s it for today - get those waiver claims in. Our under-the-radar targets are
Boston Scott (without Sanders he should see RB2 volume)
Chargers D/ST (great upcoming schedule with talent finally healthy)
Ryan Tannehill (darkhorse MVP candidate has been balling since leaving Adam Gase)
