Is CMC startable? Why you should sell Juju & start Dak Prescott...

Good morning and happy Saturday. Pour one up for Elijah Moore, may he be set free of the NY Jets, Zach Wilson-led passing attack.

Let's get into it.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz reports there's "a pretty good chance" Christian McCaffrey will play in Week 7 against the Chiefs. CMC would not see a full complement of snaps but could be used around the end zone.

"Some fantasy thoughts re: Christian McCaffrey trade: Given the wealth of talent the 49ers have, it's unlikely CMC see's the same workload. However, by Fantasy Playoffs/2023+ this unlocks 'best RB season of all time' level ceiling. Playing in a high level offense with a brilliant coach allows for the possibility that CMC's talent is maximized for fantasy. Naturally I would think Deebo Samuel suffers most, while the Panthers are so bad that barring a full snap share to any 1 RB, none really matter." Incredible thread by Jakob Sanderson.

"In reality, Kyle Shanahan is a genius top-5 play-caller, who once coaxed an overall RB1 season out of Devonta freaking Freeman and will have [CMC] running routes all over the field, catching a bazillion targets from Checkdown King Jimmy G" via Scott Barrett.

"D'Onta Foreman is a must-add if you like 13 carries for 20 yard stat lines in fantasy" aka disappointment. Gold by @ktompkinsii.

"Amon-Ra St. Brown should get as many targets as he can handle this week. St. Brown has dominated targets this season with a 28% target share. He's done so with an extremely shallow aDOT of 5.3, but he's still been able to produce a superstar level 2.39 YPRR on elite target volume. It's also easier to trust Jared Goff now that Amon-Ra should be healthy enough to run a full slate of routes " via @PatKerrane's Week 7 Walkthrough.

"The Rams remembered they signed Allen Robinson as a free agent this offseason, and he broke out with a team-high 83.6 PFF offensive grade while catching five passes for 63 yards and a score. He brought in two contested targets and made two explosive plays in the win over Carolina" via PFF's NFL Week 6: One up, one down for all 32 teams.

Start Dak Prescott wherever you have him. "Prescott will return to action against a Lions' defense with the second-worst PFF coverage grade in the NFL (44.5). Opposing QBs are averaging 271 yards and 1.6 passing TDs per game in non-overtime play against the Lions" via Fantasy Life's Newsletter: The Surprise RB1 Set To Dominate, by @Peteroverzet.

"Juju Smith-Schuster finished this past week with his first top-12 performance. However, his production was heavily driven by efficiency as he scored +13.5 Fantasy Points Above Expected. So while he did finish as a WR1, it is slightly concerning that his volume only equated to a meager 6.3 Expected Fantasy Points," via Marvin Elequin's Week 7 Fantasy Usage & Efficiency article on Yahoo.

"Why does the metric Expected Fantasy Points (xFP) matter? Simply put, it tells us the average fantasy value of a player based on the quality and quantity of opportunities that they receive. Therefore, if a player is struggling to produce despite significant usage, regression will eventually bring them back to fantasy relevance as long as their volume remains mostly unchanged. Ja’Marr Chase's Week 6 is the perfect example of this."

QUICK SLANTS

  • After he was excused for a personal day, Jets’ WR Elijah Moore was back at the team’s training facility. HC Robert Saleh told reporters that Moore won’t play Sunday and the team will not trade him before the Nov. 1 deadline.

  • Keenan Allen was participating in the red zone walkthrough at the beginning of practice, usually a good indication of who is/isn’t in the plan for that week. Allen did not participate in this walkthrough last week.

  • Russell Wilson (hamstring) is questionable and will be a game-time decision.

  • J.K. Dobbins is expected to undergo arthroscopic knee surgery next week that would sideline him 4-6 weeks, per Schefter. We've been yelling to grab Gus Edwards and Kenyan Drake. Now's the time to listen.

I (Jake) am attending my cousins wedding tonight and yave zero plans of being in "newsletter writing" shape after. We'll see you Tuesday morning. It's for the best, trust me.
