🏈 Injuries and Committees
Why we're buying Allen Lazard... Lamar says nah, RB committees spring up & a quick hospital visit.
Good morning and happy Saturday. We survived another week (unlike the some royalty).
Now, imagine being so good at your job that you'd turn down millions of dollars. For more money. Lamar Jackson gets it. Lamar declined the latest Ravens’ offer and bet on himself. He now will make $23 million this season and is expected to be franchise tagged after the season.
Lamar Jackson: “Y’all ready to give me elite QB money?”

MARKET
Packers WR Allen Lazard should be at the top of your buy list. Yes, Lazard is doubtful for Sunday’s game vs. Minnesota due to his ankle injury, but it's Week 1. Lazard owners are annoyed he's out, getting cold feet on him. Now's the time to make that trade offer.
Here's why Allen Lazard could be the biggest value in fantasy football for 2022 (by @CPatrickNFL):
Aaron Rodgers: "Who I don't think we need any patience with is Allen. I really think Allen is ready to make a jump and be a No. 1 receiver.”
Allen Lazard has been incredibly efficient with Rodgers so far in his career. Lazard has a 10.28 AYA on 151 career targets from Rodgers — the 2nd best rate of any WR in Rodgers’ career, trailing only Jordy Nelson.
If Aaron Rodgers gives Allen Lazard a legitimate WR1 workload and they maintain anywhere near their historical efficiency on the expanded volume — there’s zero doubt that Lazard has a top-12 WR finish within his range of outcomes.

Please sit Breece Hall this week. Jets offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur said RB Michael Carter is the "heartbeat of our offense." YOUR HEARTBEAT KEEPS YOU ALIVE.
Tandems everywhere: Denver to Dallas
Nathaniel Hackett on RB split with Javonte Williams and Melvin Gordon:
"I've always been a true believer in you want to roll with the hot hand. One guy gets going, you want to be sure to keep feeding that person. But I think they're going to be great compliments to each other." Great, another committee.
Still, Hackett has had a top 10 fantasy RB in 3/5 years as an OC. My guess is Javonte has the "hot hand" more often than Melvin.
What kinda name is Melvin?
Meanwhile, in Texas:
Mike McCarthy on the Cowboys running back situation between Zeke Elliott and Tony Pollard, is a tandem or change of pace: "It's definitely a tandem."

Straight up, good, old fashioned content
@WesHuberNFL’s Advanced Matchup column is back, free for Week 1. This single handedly wins leagues. One excerpt:
QB Matchup to Target: Joe Burrow vs Steelers' Cover 1. The 2022 Steelers' defense is coached by Teryl Austin (influenced by Ray Rhodes and Chuck Pagano), who we can count on to utilize high rates of Cover 1 and 4.
Burrow has simply shredded all forms of man coverage. During his NFL career, Burrow has produced the second-most FPs/dropback across from Cover 1. He has added the second-most YPA (9.2), third-most air YPA (10.9), third-highest passer rating (108.2), and third-highest TD rate (11.5%). Needless to say, Burrow should be on everyone’s prime target list for Week 1.
Aside from Elijah Moore, Marquise Brown seems like the easiest WR smash play at cost to me.
Paired with one of the best passers in the game and no DHop for 6 games.
League winning upside at his fringe WR2/3 ADP in both seasonal and dynasty leagues.

Hey Nurse, how’s my Fantasy Team?
A great article by @TheRealAdam_H answers injury-related questions like: When a player is listed as Questionable but ends up actually playing, how is their fantasy production impacted? Over 1,200 injuries sorted by type and position - check it out here.
Chris Godwin update: the decision on Godwin “will come right up to game time.” Here's why this is massive for Mike Evans:
Mike Evans has played eight games without Chris Godwin over the past two seasons:
7-104-1
7-122-1
5-41-1
5-55-1
4-47-1
6-89-2
9-117-1
8-119-1Could see shadow coverage from Trevon Diggs, who allowed an NFL-high 1,016 receiving yards in his direct coverage last season (PFF)
