Draft Isaiah Likely, Melvin Gordon & Russell Gage updates and trouble in New England.
Good morning. Me to my fantasy team all preseason:
Let's get into it. We've got 1) Two huge injury updates 2) More camp hype 3) Twitter threadooors. Let's gooooo:
Injury News of the Day
Melvin Gordon: Injured
Broncos coach Nathaniel Hackett said after Wednesday’s practice RB Melvin Gordon III didn’t practice due to foot injury… said it’s being evaluated.

We're not doctors, but think Melvin should sit out this season to let the foot heal.
This could have huge implications for anyone betting their season on Javonte Williams, especially after the Broncos signed a pair of depth RBs on Wednesday, adding JaQuan Hardy and Stevie Scott. You'll be updated on Gordon's injury throughout camp.
For now, Javonte's worth reaching for due to his league-winning upside.
Russell Gage: Injured
Folobooks
In one morning practice vs. the Dolphins, the Buccaneers lost wide receiver Russell Gage and center Robert Hainsey.
Turns out Hainsey only had cramps, while Gage - who pulled up on a route and grabbed his leg - suffered a minor foot injury. Some speculated it could have been a hamstring strain. Non-contact issues are never a good sign this time of year, making Julio Jones a must-draft at his current ADP while Chris Godwin deserves greater consideration.
Rookie of the Day: Isaiah Likely
Baltimore Sun
Ravens rookie tight end Isaiah Likely has put on quite a performance throughout the first two weeks of training camp. "He might have been [the Ravens] best offensive player." Likely had a 94.8 (!!!) PFF receiving grade and 2.99 YPPR (!) in 2021 and could get a ton of run as Baltimore's TE2. He's currently almost undrafted as the TE40 on Underdog (ADP: 215.8).
What else they're saying:
John Harbaugh on rookie TE Isaiah Likely: "He's going to be a big part of the offense this year."
Mark Andrews on Likely: "He's light years ahead. He's gonna play a big of what we do offensively. ... I'm excited for the world to see him this year."
Rookie TE Isaiah Likely had three TDs in 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 red-zone work, including one jump-ball posterization and another juggling catch.
Gonna be tough for the Ravens to keep him off the field.

Camp Hype
The Good
Chase Edmonds-themed takeaways from Dolphins camp:
"Edmonds with a NASTY route - Tua's timing is perfect as it's on him coming out of the break, puts a move on Devin White and he's off to the races" - @WingfieldNFL
And he looks EXPLOSIVE (video)
Per Arif Hasan of The Athletic, Justin Jefferson "is having an "incredible camp" and "has won on every route in every situation." Hasan also noted, "opposing corners have done little to limit" him. Just in case you needed another reason to rank Jefferson WR1.
Michael "Slant Boy" Thomas went off at practice yesterday:
"Mike Thomas just went up in the air, caught a pass on Roby, and got his toes down before being pushed out of bounds. I don’t want to say he’s back, but he’s doing the kind of things a guy who is back would do." - @nick_underhill
"Michael Thomas in the past 10 minutes... 4 receptions, 4 TDs" - @RodWalkerNola
#Saints WR Michael Thomas is looking sharp.

All-Hype Teams & Showers
Fantasy Football's All-Training-Camp-Hype Team. This article by Danny Kelly looks through the training camp smoke and identifies 11 players that have stood out at their respective camps AND should be the real deal this season. Notable inclusions: Travis Etienne, Romeo Doubs, James Cook, and Elijah Moore.
Long live the #ShowerNarrative. Adam Levitan points out how valuable a little extra team bonding can be in fantasy. NFL teams are taking notice:
Few years ago I joked a lot about #ShowerNarrative: College teammates with that extra bond.
Then the NFL took it seriously. Top-5:
1. Burrow & Ja'Marr Chase
2. Derek Carr & Davante Adams
3. Kyler & Marquise Brown
4. Tua & Waddle
5. Etienne & TLawrence
6. Hurts & Devonta Smith— Adam Levitan (@adamlevitan)

Overtime
Quick Slants
SI's Albert Breer believes the Patriots could entertain the idea of trading contract-year RB Damien Harris. We loved Rhamondre Stevenson last year and we're ready to do it again. A Damien Harris trade would vault Stevenson into top-20 RB status.
DeVonta Smith has missed the Eagles' last five practices with a groin injury. Nick Sirianni says Smith is still day-to-day at this point.
Matt Patricia and Joe Judge: What could go wrong? The Athletic's Chad Graff writes "the point of concern is nearing" for the Patriots offense after it has struggled badly throughout training camp. It's a nightmare in New England.
ESPN's Marcel Louis-Jacques believes Myles Gaskin is on the Dolphins' roster bubble. We believe it too, Marcel.
