🏈 A Little Pick-Em Up

Mac Jones uses Ankle Twist and it's very effective. Also: Odell update, the worst draft class in NFL history, and the top waiver pickups of Week 10.

Good morning. Picking NFL games is similar to the Raiders 2020 draft: Useless.

After a video surfaced of former 1st rounder Damon Arnette wielding multiple weapons, the Raiders cut him:

Week 10 Waivers

Elijah Moore, Rhamondre & Brandon Aiyuk are Morning Huddle favorites (and the #1 adds if available). But you’re subscribers and had them stashed already.

Last Week’s Huddle

QB: Trey Lance

After the Niners suffered a bad loss to the Cardinals, Jimmy G is once again in the hot seat. In relief earlier this season, Lance scored 20 points in one half. In his first career start: 14.6 fantasy points, which looks like his floor. With a Jalen Hurtsďťż + weapons ceiling, Lance has QB1 upside, and hopefully saves my season.

RB: Sony Michel

Darrell Henderson briefly left Sunday’s game with an ankle injury, returning a few minutes later. RBs are the most injury-prone position in fantasy, and Michel is primed for a large role should Henderson miss time.

  • Jordan Howard has rushed 29 times for 128 yards and three touchdowns over two games. The de-facto leader in this backfield, Howard offers RB2 upside as long as Miles Sanders is out.

  • D’Onta Foreman played 22 percent of the snaps and carried the ball five times for 29 yards, but looked the best out of any Titans RB.

  • Brandon Bolden: Both Rhamondre Stevenson and Damien Harris left late in Week 9 with head injuries.

WR: Donovan Peoples-Jonesďťż

Donovan Peoples-Jones to start at WR for Browns

Ron Schwane/AP

DPJ played 61 percent of snaps, 2nd-most among Browns receivers in Week 9, turning three targets into 2/81 and a touchdown. The Browns went run-heavy and didn’t need to throw. If DPJ gets open as often as OBJ did - and if Baker throws to him - big things are in store.

TE: Logan Thomas

Just do it. A player with top-five upside at their position should not be on almost half of all waiver wires. The TE4 in 2020 was seeing insane volume before his injury:

  • Pat Freiermuth: Freiermuth deserves to keep the starting job even when Ebron returns to health.

Droppable: Marvin Jones, Laviska Shenault, Tyrod Taylor, my iPhone. Not Kadarius Toney, not yet.

Unsettling Stories — DeAndre Hopkins was already one of my favorite...

Imagine wearing this to your workplace

DeAndre Hopkins (hamstring) is "day-to-day," Trevor Lawrence "should be fine," and Michael Gallup (calf, IR) is expected to play in Week 10. Antonio Brown (ankle) is still in a walking boot and is unlikely to suit up.

  • NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Mike White (forearm) is "fully healthy" and could start over Zach Wilson (knee) in Week 10. Corey Davis (hip) is expected to play in Week 10 against the Bills, impacting Elijah Moore’s projected volume.

  • Russell Wilson (finger) has been cleared to play in Week 10 against the Packers, great news for D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett.

Odell Update

Image

#LetRussCook & #FreeOdell

After the Browns officially waived Odell Beckham Jr. (without restructuring his contract) Dan Campbell said the Lions "won't be on the market" for Odell, and 49ers HC Kyle Shanahan said the same, citing financial reasons.

  • Odell will have to clear waivers for the Saints to sign him, due to his $7.5 million cap hit. Per Saints beat writer Nick Underhill, Sean Payton said "I know it would produce hit-worthy news for everyone, but we wouldn't discuss [signing Odell]."

Odell wants to play for a contender; there could be "issues" for a team that claims him if he's not in a 'winning environment.'

  • The Seahawks have shown strong interest in adding Odell, a source says. Russell Wilson has urged Seahawks brass for an OBJ signing, and in recent days, team officials have done extensive research on the wideout

  • Seahawks HC Pete Carroll when asked if they’ll sign Odell: “You’ll see”

Jarvis Landry called Odell one of the best teammates he’s ever played with, while Justin Jefferson wore a 'Free Odell' hoodie during pregame warmups.

Quick Slants

  • Mac Jones should (at least) be fined for this dirty play that injured the Panthers defender. You can clearly see the grab, the trip, and the roll (video). This puts a damper on a great season for Jones, whose PFF rating of 81.0 is No. 12 among 40 qualified QBs and highest among rookie QBs.

  • The 49ers lost PFF’s #2 ranked run-blocking tackle (2020) for the remainder of the season after RT Mike McGlinchey tore his quad in Week 9.

  • Chase Edmonds suffered a high ankle sprain in Week 9 against the 49ers and could be headed to short-term IR, meaning James Conner is a low-end RB1 until Week 14.

  • Scott Hanson of NFL Red Zone was loving this all weekend: Josh Allen sacked, intercepted and recovered a fumble from QB Josh Allen.

  • The Titans basically said screw Michael Buffer and kicked the ball off (video).

Tweet of the Day

Thanks for joining me this morning, be great today. And remember, if Rex Grossman could play QB in a Super Bowl, you can do anything.
