šŸˆ On the Menu: Twitter Beef & Waiver Wires

We have to apologize, DK Metcalf calls out an NFL legend, and Antonio Gibsons Shins.

Good morning, and congratulations. Youā€™ve done it - conquered Week 6, survived the weekend, and most importantly, joined us this morning.

Letā€™s get into it:

Twitter Beef of the Day

It all started when Shannon Sharpe tweeted ā€œWhat was D.K. thinking? Why try to play hero šŸˆ in that situation? - Referencing this:

Waiver Wire Report

If Rhamondre Stevenson is still available, heā€™s a priority. Click here to read what we wrote about him last week - itā€™s all still true.

Marlon Mack

Kansas City Chiefs have 'looked into' trade for RB Marlon Mack

Hereā€™s what we wrote about Mack last week:

If you could use an upside RB, nowā€™s the time to pick up Mack, or offer a bag of peanuts in a trade.

Itā€™s now true more than ever. If youā€™re still holding onto your bag of peanuts, itā€™s time. Trade for or pickup Mack before an NFL team does (Mackā€™s requested a trade). Hereā€™s a list of teams currently missing their pre-season RB1:

  • Ravens, Browns, Jaguars, Chiefs, Giants, Bears, Panthers, Rams, 49ers, Seahawks

  • If Mack is moved to any of those teams, his value skyrockets. The ideal landing spot is Seattle, with Carsonā€™s injury (neck) likely to remain an issue.

Those Two Browns Starting RBs

You know, the one-two punch of Dā€™Ernest Johnson and Demetric Felton? itā€™s been a rough year for RBs.

  • Dā€™Ernest Johnson: Will be the teamā€™s early-down grinder and should see goal-line work (think Value-Mart Nick Chubb).

  • Demetric Felton: Think Value-Mart Kareem Hunt. More valuable in PPR.

Antonio Gibsonā€™s backup

Remember when Antonio Gibson had a stress fracture in his shin? Itā€™s flaring up:

Iā€™ve been stashing Jarrett Patterson everywhere. Hereā€™s what we wrote a few weeks ago:

Seahawks' Rashaad Penny Out for Season After Suffering ACL Injury vs. Rams | Bleacher Report | Latest News, Videos and Highlights
  • Rashaad Penny - Returning from the IR, the former 1st rounder could function as the Seahawkā€™s lead back this week if Carson and Collins are out.

  • Teddy Bridgewater - Teddy put up 18+ in each game where he attempted more than 30 passes (left once with injury). Tough schedule & Broncos D struggling.

  • Rashod Bateman - Bateman, a first-round pick, saw his first NFL action in Week 6. He saw a team-best six targets in the Sammy Watkins (always injured) WR2 role. Hereā€™s Bateman burning Ravens top CB Marlon Humphry (video). His best comp after the NFL draft? Stefon Diggs.

  • Mo Alie-Cox - Quietly averaging 12+ in PPR leagues over the past 3 games, Cox is massive (intended) & is Wentzā€™s preferred red zone target (3TD/3 games)

Striking Gold

You know what sucks? Not having FAAB or the top waiver pick - because you miss out on everyone above. You know what rocks? Buying them on Prediction Strike. Itā€™s the fantasy football stock market weā€™ve all been dreaming of. Last weekā€™s best buys might look familiar:

Hospital Visits

Dak Prescott suffered a calf strain in Week 6, but the Cowboys' medical staff is optimistic he will play Week 8. Jimmy Garoppolo (calf) returned to practice Monday and is expected to play. Trey Lance didnā€™t practice and can be dropped in most 1QB leagues.

  • Calvin Ridley will play this week after missing Week 5 due to a personal matter.

  • The chances of Jerry Jeudy (ankle) playing in Week 7 against the Browns "are less than 50 percent,ā€ per Broncos coach Vic Fangio. Courtland Sutton remains a must-start.

Alex Collins injured his hip and glute in Week 6 and could miss this Sundayā€™s matchup against the Saints, making Rashad Penny worth stashing.

  • Baker Mayfield will get a 2nd opinion on his MRI results before Kevin Stefanski can say if heā€™ll start him or Case Keenum Thursday.

Player Profile: Jaā€™Marr Chase

Former LSU Tiger Ja'Marr Chase shines in NFL debut

Despite the preseason concerns, we are witnessing a truly historic first season from the former LSU Tiger.

Looking back, itā€™s obvious the man who relegated Justin Jefferson to second fiddle at LSU would hit the ground running. In 2020, Jefferson had the best fantasy finish by a rookie WR since Anquan Boldin was WR4 in '03 - and Chase is on pace to top it.

We should be thanking Chase for the preseason drops - they made him affordable. But how do you get Chase on your team?

  • A trade might be difficult to pull off, but managers can highlight Chase's nearly unprecedented touchdown efficiency to argue that a potential regression is in his future.

  • In reality, you can be confident that the upstart rookie is poised to finish his historic rookie season as a top-5 WR. If Chase can still be had for WR2 value, pull the trigger ASAP.
