🏈 Next Justin Jefferson?
Hot takes, Packers Receivers, Miles Sanders & Josh Jacobs, and Gabriel Davis gets his due.
Good morning. Just 11 days until this mug blesses our screens every Sunday:
Few things in life are as sweet as watching my fantasy team disappoint me in real time. As a massive dynasty fan, I appreciate this:
me when the running backs on my dynasty team turn 26

Are we still too low on Gabe Davis?
The San Diego Union Tribune
NBC Sports' Pete King claims the gap between Gabe Davis and Stefon Diggs is not as wide as anticipated. King wrote: "When I was in Bills' camp, I was told that his four-TD performance at Kansas City was the start of something big, not a fluke. He's a worker, and Josh Allen sees him as a great complement - not a distant number two - to Stefon Diggs."
The 49ers waved (goodbye to) former 3rd rounder Trey Sermon. Recently waived JaMycal Hasty was claimed by the Jaguars and won't be returning to the 49ers practice squad or fantasy relevance. Even after losing two, the 49ers still kept five RBs, which doesn't bode well for Deebo, Aiyuk or Kittle's target counts.
Per @FieldYates, the Texans released RB Royce Freeman and signed Marlon Mack to their practice squad. You know we're a broken record on this guy, but consider Dameon Pierce, who had a 92.4 PFF grade this preseason, highest of any RB in the preseason since 2006.
Per NBC Sports Edge, the Chargers cut RB Larry Rountree to sign RB Sony Michel. This muddies the Chargers backup RB role, proving there's no clear handcuff to Austin Ekeler. Treat this situation like my ex-highschool girlfriend: avoid entirely.
Giants coach Brian Daboll said WR Kadarius Toney "is improving" and "hopefully he'll be ready" for Week 1. @Dan_Salomone reported that Toney had a good practice yesterday and the Giants have ramped him up the last few weeks. Basically we know nothing.
This take is so hot we weren't sure it was safe to include: "Jets Rookie WR Garrett Wilson reminds me a lot of Justin Jefferson as a prospect. Checks the boxes. Everybody agrees he’s good. He’s more viewed as a “safe” WR prospect, but there’s so much upside for him to become one of the best WRs in the league." Still...
Think fantasy players overrate Week 1 role in the context of a long season, where all the money is late.
But need to be aware of things like Garrett Wilson starting at the back end of a 4-man rotation. espn.com/nfl/story/_/id…

Fallers: (Still) Injured Players
Miles Sanders has been sidelined since August 14th. It's now September. "There's optimism he'll return for Week 1, but next week's practices will be important." - @ZBerm. Glad we're all aggressively drafting Kareem Hunt at his current ADP and praying the Eagles pull the trigger on trading for him. Right??
Don't sleep on Boston Scott. “Kenneth Gainwell playing while Scott rested points to Gainwell being the RB3, making Scott the Eagles RB2.” Per @AdamKoffler:
Boston Scott averaged 10.8 rush attempts and 1.8 targets per game when Miles Sanders sat in 2021
Kenneth Gainwell, on the other hand, needs an injury to one of Miles Sanders or Scott to get chances. When one of those two guys missed in 2021, Gainwell got 6.1 carries and 4.4 targets/game
J.K. Dobbins had a noticeable limp during practice (video).
Matt LaFleur scared the sh*t out of Allen Lazard truthers after suggesting the Packers will use a WR-by-committee.
"I don't think anybody's clear cut in front of the other guy. I think it's gonna be very much the ball's gonna get spread around and we're gonna try to feature different guys in different spots."
Trying to figure out the Packers WRs this year:
TALKING SMACK
Fade Josh Jacobs At All Costs
"The Raiders like Zamir White A LOT... I wouldn't draft Josh Jacobs in fantasy" - Raiders writer @VicTafur of The Athletic. Tafur adds he think it "will be a full blow committee in Vegas." Gross. Full video:

Eagles traded former first-rounder Jalen Reagor to the Vikings in exchange for a 2023 7th-round pick and a 2024 conditional 4th-round pick, per @RapSheet. Yes, the same Jalen Reagor who was drafted ahead of Justin Jefferson, Tee Higgins, Michael Pittman, Chase Claypool, and Brandon Aiyuk. Eagles got more for Reagor than Dallas got for Amari Cooper...
Never forget GM Rick Spielman’s reaction to the Eagles drafting Jalen Reagor one pick before he took Justin Jefferson
And now the Vikings have both WRs

QUICK SLANTS
Cowboys brought in veteran OT Jason Peters for a visit. Scary times in Dallas.
Reddit gem: Does anybody else find it weird that Derrick Henry is now injury prone but CMC should be 1.01 if he’s healthy? (full discussion)
After being released by the Chiefs, Josh Gordon was on his way to visit the Titans - @TaylorBisciotti. Gordon couldn't possible run it back a decade later... could he?
The last RB over 25 to finish as the RB1 overall was Jamaal Charles in 2013. CMC is 26.
Kliff Kingsbury said Rondale Moore (undisclosed) and Zach Ertz "will be close" for Week 1.
