Philip Rivers, is it you?
Joe Judge can't control his team, so he makes them run laps
Welcome back to another boring Wednes… oh wait, you’re reading the Morning Huddle. LETS GOOOO.
Who cares what day of the week it is, it’s fantasy football draft szn - that’s all that matters.
Without further ado, let’s get into your daily updates:
The Colts
Ok, maybe it’s not that bad - but still, the Colts injuries are piling up quickly.
Wentz is out 5-12??? weeks, and we heard yesterday that All-World G Quenton Nelson has a bone issue in his foot and underwent surgery. He’s also expected to miss 5-12 weeks
What does this all mean? It could mean Philip Rivers's time. Man has a (extremely large) family to support, after all.
People.com
Someone on reddit also posted this: “Spent the first half of the day with Philip Rivers who assures me that, while he's focused on coaching high school football now, he isn't closing the door on coming back for a stint late in the season if there's an NFL team that needs him.”
Pick your poison
Drew Lock vs Teddy Bridgewater; Taysom Hill vs Jameis Winston
No matter who wins, none will be great (Taysom could be a cheat code for fantasy as he averaged nearly 20 fantasy points/game).
As of this Morning:
Broncos OC Pat Shurmur: “This is the best version of Drew Lock I’ve seen”
also Pat Shurmur: “Teddy’s got experience, he’s got experience in multiple offenses.”
our take = Drew Lock 📈, while Teddy 📉
Anti-Vax Vikes
With just 64.5 percent of players fully vaccinated (the NFL is at 90%), the Vikings have the lowest vaccination rate in the league. Kirk Cousins and third-round rookie QB Kellen Mond are currently on the reserve/COVID-19 list. It’s unclear which players are or aren't vaxxed, but Minnesota looks like the team most at risk of losing games due to positive results.
Go Giants
Keep an eye on these injuries
Tre’Quan Smith and Keith Washington left early with apparent injuries
Bears coach Matt Nagy suggested Tarik Cohen was “weeks away” from being activated.
Matthew Stafford should be OK - X-rays on his thumb came back negative, which is a good thing.
Tyreek Hill missed practice with knee tendonitis - something to monitor but he should be fine.
